GHOST HOUSE

You find Vince on the second floor, at the end of the hall by a window that overlooks the backyard. Or - should. It's caked over in dust so thoroughly, not even a hint of sunlight glows through.

He's turning to you as you approach, and he must be able to tell something's wrong, as he reaches out to you as you stumble to him. You hold onto his arms with your hands, trying to ignore the ringing in your ears.

VINCE

Mandy? Hey, what's the matter?

MANDY

Uhhh, I don't- I don't want to be here. Now. Anymore.

VINCE

Alright. Alright, you're okay. You're alright.

He holds your hands tightly in his as you take a deep breath.

MANDY

I thought I could handle it, I thought it'd been long enough since she- s-since she-

He doesn't say anything, instead just giving you a hug and rubbing your back. You sob into his jacket for a few moments. By the time you pull away, you know your face must be red and snotty, and he starts leading you down the stairs.

At seeing the rest of the party at the foot of the stairs, all eyes on you, you hesitate, but Vince clears his throat and parts the group for you. He keeps leading you towards the front doors, reacing out and grabbing one of the handles, tugging it.

...It doesn't budge.

VINCE

Hey, what the hell?

Vince fidgets with the lock, then tries it again, but nothing changes. He turns and looks at the rest of the people here.

VINCE

Uh, I think it's jammed. Can you guys help me?

Soku and Miki step forward and help Vince tug at the doors. You stand nearby, arms crossed, hugging yourself tightly as you watch them work on the exit.

Still, nothing.

SOKU

Uh, there's probably a back door we can go out of, right?

VINCE

...Right.

Vince steps past you, through the glass double-doors and into the room on the other side. You peer into the room to see it's a sitting room of some kind. There's a few couches in the room, covered with white tarp, and a little end table with a dead lamp sitting on top of it, an orante but musty lampshade covering it.

He heads to the other end of the room, the back door, and tugs at it. The door similarly doesn't budge.

VINCE

It's not fucking opening.

MIKI

What, both doors are jammed in front and the back door here?

LIL

Can't we just, like, break a window?

You pick up a piece of wood from the debris on the floor, then approach one of the windows in the living room.
