You chat with Bai.
KLAIR
So... You don't remember what you were like when you were alive?
BAI
It was a long time ago, and this place really eats away at your memories. It's totally bogus.
KLAIR
Do you know how long you've been here? Like, relative to outside time, I guess.
BAI
Longer than you can comprehend!
KLAIR
Try me.
Bai rattles off a large number that you can't keep up with. You lose count around the 30th digit.
KLAIR
...Right. That's, uh, a long time, then.
BAI
Yep! But I was human once, like you are now.
KLAIR
Can we remind you of who you were before? Like we did with Nick?
BAI
Oh, the House generates the clues, and I don't know why it'd give you clues like that about me.
KLAIR
Wait. If we have to remind these people of who they were to get to the attic, and the House is controlled by that girl you keep mentioning... why's it helping us? Giving us clues and stuff?
BAI
I don't know for sure, but... I thinkshe just wants to find her brother.
KLAIR
Her brother?
BAI
I think so. I don't know what happened to him, or, if I figured it out in life, I never wrote it down. But... she had a brother, and she doesn't know what happened to him. I think, despite how hostile she and the House have been, ultimately... she just needs help. But that's just my theory.
KLAIR
So lame. How're we meant to solve what happened to him?
BAI
The House knows, even if she doesn't. It wants her to heal just as badly as she does. It'll give you the right clues to puzzle it out.
