Issac takes Leon, who is now shaking and mumbling to himself, off to the side. You decide to inspect the paper that the ghost dropped. It looks like it's a screenshot of an e-mail...
You give it a glance over and immediately feel a pit in your stomach.
KLAIR
...Oh. This is... oh.
BONNIE
What is it?
KLAIR
You probably shouldn't read this, Bon. It'll upset you.
BONNIE
We won't know if it will or not unless you tell me what it is.
KLAIR
It's... uh... well, I guess it's an e-mail from L's family. It looks like we were right about her going to get married, earlier, and... her parents are conflicted about attending.
BONNIE
Promising start.
KLAIR
Yeah. She, um... she was going to get married to another woman. And they didn't like that. But they... also... didn't like that L is trans. So. They. Um.
BONNIE
...O-Oh. So. Oh.
KLAIR
...Yeah. You okay?
BONNIE
Uh, yeah, I just-- yeesh. They couldn't decide whether they wanted their homophobia or transphobia to win out.
KLAIR
Yeah. Yeah. All I can glean off of this is her maiden name. It's Roe.
BONNIE
L. Roe. We're getting somewhere.
Bonnie seems understandably upset. You're starting to think telling her the contents of the e-mail was a bad idea - it probably hits a little close to home.
BAI
...Hey, Bonnie! Do you want to see something totally tubular?
BONNIE
What? Um, okay...
You both watch Bai. They float in the air around your heads for a second, quiet. Then, suddenly, they burst with light - bright and sudden, like a firework. Golden sparks shower down on you and Bonnie.
BONNIE
Oh-- wow! That was pretty cool.
BAI
Being dead has its perks!
Bai seems proud of themself, and Bonnie does seem to be a little cheered up. You wonder if that was Bai's plan with that.
